It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the annual office Christmas party. Of course, the foundation of any Christmas party is the venue.

It needs to be central, large enough to cater for the Guests, unique in décor and an overall showstopper! But where do you turn to in times of need when you’re frantically trying to find a venue? Lianne Garrett, Team Lead at Events Specialist Camm & Hooper, talks us through the dos and don’ts of selecting a Christmas party venue hire.

DO pay a visit

This is crucial. You want to be able to sit in the Space and talk through what you want from the space. Make a list of everything you want people to get out of the space. Start big and work down to the finer details.

DON’T forget about location

By the end of the night, guests will have endured an abundance of fizz and canapes so make sure your location is accessible enough for them to get home easily. Sounds obvious but it is so important and quite often something that is not considered.
Think about where your guests are travelling from and look at venues that are close to public transport with links to main railway stations.

DO order variety of food

Food is so important for any party and Camm & Hooper strongly advises thinking about food at the same time as looking at venues. Go through the canapes list in detail and ensure your selection supports all dietary requirements. Guests should be excited about the food being served and you should keep them wondering ‘What’s next?’ by offering constant grazing options throughout the night.
At Camm & Hooper, executive head chef Ronnie Murray provides an array of luxury menus made from local produce to support all of our six venues across London including, Tanner Warehouse located in Bermondsey.

DO think about how much Space you need

Having a venue that’s so beautiful but causes your guests to be squished like sardines will result in a poor overall experience for everyone. Tanner Warehouse provides a distinctive look and an exciting ambience, whilst being able to support up to 300 people, giving Guests the flexibility to comfortably wander and mingle with others throughout the night.

DON’T leave booking too late

The venue must be one of the first things you consider. It’s important to pick a venue that ticks all the boxes for your Christmas party requirements and your guests. A lot of Tanner Warehouse bookings come in during the July and August time, but it can have bookings as early as January for the festive period.
Looking for venues throughout autumn is considered cutting it fine for bookings, so you need to get something in the diary fast. Whether you’re catering for 20 people or 500, leaving it too late could mean not only getting the wrong venue, but you risk not being able to secure a venue at all!
