When Shoreditch Town Hall opened its doors in 1866, it was one of the grandest Vestry Halls and its ambitious founders wanted the building to embody their progressive values. Until the 1960s, the Town Hall operated as the centre of local democracy and civic life in East London.

This historic London venue also played an important role in the East End’s working-class culture, first as a Music Hall in the late 19th and early 20th Century, then as a boxing venue from 1955 to 1975. Shoreditch Town Hall has seen and done it all.

Council Chamber, Assembly Hall

The Council Chamber was once the original Vestry Hall for Shoreditch Town Hall. This Space is arguably the most architecturally significant one, featuring an original highly ornate moulded ceiling, floor to ceiling columns and stained glass windows; the perfect backdrop for an event you want to be remembered.

Located on the ground floor, the Council Chamber is a flexible Space ideal for parties and receptions. There’s a maximum capacity of 200 Guests for this Space so it’s ideal for hosting the annual office Christmas party.

But this Space isn’t just good for the festive season: the Council Chamber is also used frequently for conferences, launches and talks and can be hired as a singular room, breakout Space, or complemented by the Mayor’s Parlour, the adjacent Space.

The Ditch, Shoreditch Town Hall
